This year at BAPS we wanted to share a common philosophy and key ideas across the classes, to create a loving and caring community. We focused on being "givers, not takers", showing kindness towards others, showing respect to our friends, teachers and our environment, and also building our confidence and that of our friends; by cheering them on when they achieve something new.
These ingredients were woven into the Reception play: "The wizard of Oz". Where Dorothy and her friends Toto, Scarecrow, Tin man and Lion needed to learn to respect each other and work together, to get the things that they all needed on their journey. They went through hurdles and tough times, like facing the evil witch Evanora. But, in the end, because they stood strongly together, they achieved all that they desired, without anybody else's help and saw that they were capable all along.
And just like the play, at the end of the year, the children have shown that through helping each other and working hard together, that they can achieve anything. Well done Reception classes!
